Sand

The Sand pieces are a unique item to Tombiglee Studio - Penney Lockhart in the way they are executed.  The sand is colored, natural and glass sand in brown and black.  They are built up pieces in the portraits and large subject matter.  The miniatures are small items of the Native Americans' past.

In some of these, I have used colored sand for the colors, yet that is not always the case. I paint in the hues of watercolor to give the color needed, or the texture and modeling the face or subject needs.  The texture of the sand adds to this.  All of these are one of a kind.

I will not duplicate them.  So consider this when you view them.  They are all mounted in shadow box frame with floating mats to add depth.

They can take some sun, but I suggest that you invest in a light that goes above to pieces.  Enjoy them.
